An interesting topic of study is the need to study the self for as people see us we ca now see our selves. not wanting to appear vain but the mirror is crucial in everyone’s life and it has opened a world to evaluate self in self reflection metaphorically as well. According to the reading, “On a practical level, the modern glass mirror was an important new technology that literally allowed people to see themselves in a new way. Humans have used reflective devices for much of human history, with evidence of polished bronze and copper mirrors dating to nearly 3000 BC in Egypt. However, until the technology of the modern mirror was perfected in Venice in the early 16th century, what people saw in mirrors was a distortion of their appearance. The perfected mirror can be viewed as a technology to enable individuals to see themselves more clearly and thus to literally self-perceive, that is, to come closer to seeing themselves as others saw them. This facilitated a heightened sense of self”. Rutherford, A. (2010).whenever i experience new beginnings in life i dream of seeing myself different in a mirror. mirror dreams tell me if i’m doing something wrong in waking life and show me how the world is viewing me. it holds spiritual meanings to me as i believe in dreams and ancestors guiding us through life.
