fire on fire 1

The Netflix documentary, Winter on Fire (2105), directed by Evgeny Afineeysky, narrates the events at Maidan in Kiev, Ukraine, during the winter of 2013-2014, when regular citizens confronted the government about the failure of talks in terms of Ukraine joining the European Union. While the documentary is emotionally moving and inspiring due to the notion of its regular citizens fighting for freedom in a peaceful way, which turned into a violent “revolution,” the filmmakers neglect to include the presence of neo-Nazis, and the involvement of NGOs (Non-governmental organizations) and their roles in instigating a coup d’état, rather than an organic revolution unfolding.
