LifeGem, a Chicago company, has announced that it can turn cremated human ashes into high-quality diamonds. After cremation, the ashes are heated to convert their carbon to graphite. Then, a lab wraps the graphite around a tiny diamond piece and again heats it and pressurizes it. After about a week of crystallizing, the result is a diamond.
