What made the women in this era so hard to persist anything that came into their way? Where their tortured in anyway?
Explanation why I have this question
Women of the Civil War era were so courageous and performed a diversity of hard. Sometimes life-threatening work. Most served silently on the home facade. Some of them journeyed out to the help at the hospitals. A marginal braved the dangers as the guides, spies, or even soldiers. Some on the other hand provided entertainment or soothe as singers, laundresses or even wives. The motivations that troop these women varied from a wish to serve a cause or the help, to a wish to be close to a loved one, to the quest for adventure, to a wish for profit, to the narcissism. Soldiers tried to rape them and resisted.
